|
At the market place of Marrakech, banter and barter are the business of the day. Intricately woven Persian rugs are on display as well as all manner of wares and produce proffered in baskets or on the backs of over-burdened oxen and ass. From the cool recesses of the white sultan's harem tent, the activity gives way to a rarified world of sumptuous tasseled cushions, urns of exotic perfumery, troves of jeweled flasks and fabrics, and just possibly an ancient lamp housing the Genii to grant all one's wishes. The sands of the desert shift ceaselessly in the distance, swirling at the feet of the wondrous pointing pyramids while camel trains traverse the undulating dunes on their way to unknown destinations. A calm oasis flanked by palm trees provides relief, water and shade for weary.
